Add Your Own Sweetener

I found another treasure on the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop:  this marvelous digital image and sentiment from TLC offered right here.  The cheerful colors from the Sunday Stamps Challenge have once again appeared in my card...just love them!  Thanks for looking!  Christine

Many Blessings

Swoon!  I love the inspiration photo at the Card Concept.  Reverse Confetti's Rose Garden was the perfect choice for the florals and I chose the sentiment "Many Blessings" from Verve's Autumn Blessings to open lots of options for sharing this card:  anniversary, birthday, just because, etc.  The sketch was a fun discovery made while looking at the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop entries.  I just fell in love with this coffee themed card, and decided to use the sketch for my clean and layered entry at the Card Concept.

Have a blessed day,
Christine

Never Underestimate the Power of Coffee and a Thank You

First, I'd like to say a big thank you to Sherrie, a sweet blogger whose work can be found here.  I was blessed to win a Michael's gift card offered on Sherrie's blog.  We live in a tiny town, so it takes a road trip to go to shopping, and one of the highlights of our weekend excursion was a trip to Michael's.  I got lots of card making goodies, including the fun chalkboard papers and enamel dots used on this card.  Thanks a bunch, Sherrie!

The fun digital stamp was offered by Gloria Stengel in a previous Coffee Lovers Hop.

I really need to straighten my craft room, but feel inspired to make another card.  Thanks for stopping by,
Christine

CLC Sketch--Upcycled Sleeve

We enjoyed a quick weekend trip, making a  point to stop along the way at a mom and pop bakery that looked appealing.  Both the Saturday morning pastries and the coffee were fabulous.  I loved the sleeve on my coffee cup and tucked it away for a little crafting fun.  The circle dotted with coffee beans serves as a background for a Verve Coffee Cup stamped on a bit of water color paper.  The background was stenciled in Simon Says Stamp Barely Beige ink.

Be sure to visit the Coffee Lovers Blog to play along with Kerrry Urbatch's sketch.  I love her card, the memory she shares, and the idea that it is aromatic!

Have a wonderful week!

This Girl Runs on Coffee

I had so much fun making this card, but I can't wait to "remodel" it.  The sunburst background was created using Prima Confections Pastel Dreams Watercolors and  the sunburst die from Sunny Studio Stamps.  I had fun creating and cutting a gradient watercolor panel but could not  decide how to add a sentiment.  I stamped on a glittered vellum panel, and was disappointed that the stamped sentiment "feathered" on the vellum. Purely my error, and I look forward to a "do-over".  The sentiment, coffee cup, and coffee word die are all from Verve, and I use them almost as much as I drink coffee.  (grin!)

You Warm My Heart

Love, love, love the CAS sketch on the MFT blog and the cool summer colors in the Curtain Call Inspiration Photo.  I ran some papers watercolored with Prima Pastel Dreams through the Big Shot and added as sentiment from MFT's Perk Up stamp set.  The banner die is from MFT Blueprints12 and the heart is a SSS die.  The sequins aren't exactly placed as intended since one made a "crash landing" and stuck.   Seems like glue sticks so well when things need to be moved a bit!!

 So loving the summer time.

Thanks a Latte!

It was lots of fun to put a card together with this sunny paper from My Mind's Eye.  The digital stamp is from a Verve collection called Three Cheers. It was a free digital set  offered for a limited time.  Don't miss these when they are available!  The coffee cup is part of a Verve photopolymer set called Coffee, and it's still available.  A twine bow finishes up this simple card.

Have a wonderful day!

Coffee Lovers Summer Hop: Coffee----It saves lives!

I enjoy visiting the Coffee Loving Card Makers Blog and saw a sneaky little announcement about the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  It's always so much fun.

This card features the coffee word die from Verve, a coffee cup die set from My Favorite Things, and a sentiment from A Creative Journey with Melissa.  (This set was a prize from the last Coffee Lovers Hop---Thanks, Melissa!)

A Little Bit of Coffee and a Whole Lot of Jesus

I ordered the Jesus and Coffee stamp from Jillian Vance Designs and couldn't be happier with it! Since being out of school for the summer, I've enjoyed experimenting with a new set of Prima Pastel Dreams watercolors and had so much fun creating the background and pairing it with a pretty plaid from Harper Finch.

CAS Coffee Card

Kerry Urbatch shared the sweetest CAS card and sketch on the Sunday Sip and Share segment of the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog and I was determined to give it a spin.  Central to my CASE of Kerry's card is a strip of watercolored paper cut with the Little Inkers On the Diagonal Die.  Over this, I layered the coffee word die available from Verve. Some  scraps of denim and wood grain papers were cut with Reverse Confetti's Tall Tag Trio and an old Sizzix tag die.  The trio of coffee beans is included in Verve's Coffee stamps.

Fun Friday Featuring The Paper Shelter

Happy Friday!  It's time for another Fun Friday Challenge at Jo's Scrap Shack where the theme is always Anything Goes.  The design team is showcasing images by The Paper Shelter.  One of the many pleasures of being on a design team is discovering new products and ideas.  Truthfully, it never entered my mind to use a pre-colored image, but the timing of this design team assignment has been perfect:  I am in the middle of a million things, and the use of this sweet image created such a cute and easy card.  I promise that you will have fun if you just visit The Paper Shelter's site to take a look at the precious vintage images.  If you choose to play along, you might be the lucky winner who gets to choose some Paper Shelter images for your crafting delight.

This week's challenge comes with an OPTIONAL TWIST:  The DT was challenged to feature the colors red, orange, and aqua on their cards.  That sounded a little scary at first, but those are shades included in the pre-colored image.  If you want to include red, orange, and aqua, give it a try, but it's purely optional.

Please take time to see the design team's samples and to link up your own creations.  It's always fun to see what you have to share!

God's Unfailing Love

I selected the words watercolor and flowers from The Challenge and chose shades of pink, lilac, and green from Sunday Stamps when creating this card.  The photo does not do justice to the fun embossed scallops created with some new dies from Papertrey Ink. They are called Double Ups and allow for cutting of rectangles with the option of embossing scallops on either side of the cut line.  The sweet Psalm is from Verve's Good Work set, and the card is finished with a few stitched flowers from MFT and a scattering of dewdrops.

Hoping you will know God's unfailing love,
Christine

The Challenge: A Day Touched by Kindness

So glad I took the color challenge at Always Playing with Paper.  I wouldn't have combined those colors on my own, but I am happy with how the card turned out.  The background was created by swirling Prima Pastel Dreams Watercolors on a sheet of watercolor paper.  While that dried, I mixed orange and pink watercolors, stamped two flowers from Kindness Matters, and then, made a big mistake!  When die cutting the first flower, I used washi tape to hold the die in place.  I didn't expect it to pull a layer off the watercolor paper, but it did.  Two flowers may have been too much anyway.

Inspiration from The Card Concept

After cleaning ceiling fans and baseboards today, I felt like I deserved a little crafting time as a reward.  I love the bold, elegant look in the inspiration photo, and those big, pink blooms made me think of Kindness Matters, one of my favorite Verve sets. The pink paper is from Heidi Swap, and the toile print is from an Authentique collection. The pretty wreath is a Reverse Confetti Die and the leaves are from MFT.  A few Pretty Pink Posh dewdrops mimic the sparkle in the photo.

This card is a CASE of one I made some time ago.

Mojo Monday 500: Thanks a Bunch!

I started another card using Mojo Monday Sketch #500 this morning and left the pieces on my desk after deciding that I really, really needed to get busy with some more constructive pursuits.  My errands took me near Tuesday Morning, where I found the pretty rectangular die frame by Crafter's Companion.  A silicon baking mat was repurposed as an embossing mat, and the frame cut and embossed beautifully.  The card features Prima's Romance Novel papers and Verve's Joyful Blooms.

Decided to share one of my favorite Mojo Monday cards. This one used sketch 407.   So grateful for the years of inspiration and fun!  Since I didn't get started until 250, there are still plenty of sketches to try!

The Challenge Sketch #86---Butterfly Grace

Lesley Croghan has created a wonderful sketch and is sharing some beautiful inspiration on her blog, Always Playing with Paper.  I couldn't resist an opportunity to ink up my newest stamp set--Verve's Butterfly Grace.   The butterfly was stamped on a scrap of watercolored background ----never throw away a scrap----and cut with the matching die.

Fun Friday Challenge 192

I've been busy finishing the school year, taking required professional development courses, and planning for a week of community service. This week teams of junior high and high school students will go in to our community to assist elderly residents with exterior home repair projects.

Thanks For Making My Day Awesome!

This week, Julee published the 500th and  final Mojo Monday Sketch.  In so many ways, Mojo Monday makes Mondays awesome!  There's a new sketch to stir up the crafting mojo and to provide an excuse a good reason to do some week night crafting.  As if that wasn't enough, the designers offered great inspiration.  I wish Julee her many awesome times with her darling twins.

This is my second card with sketch 500, and I decided to take a more CAS approach, using Prima Pastel Dreams for the watercolor background and Verve's Better Together.  (It would have been a one-layer card, but I stamped the horizontal element a little-bit-less-than-horizontally and had to cover it with a panel.)

Have an awesome day!

Mojo Monday Memories

Yesterday, Julee Tilman posted the 500th and final Mojo Monday Sketch.  What impressive levels of creativity and dedication that shows!

While I am sad to see the Mojo Monday Challenge come to an end, I can only applaud Julee for her decision to spend more time with her darling twins!  Minutes, days, and years with our children pass all too quickly.

Over the years, the Mojo Sketches have stretched my crafting muscles and have improved my skills. The balance of a sketch allows freedom to experiment with colors, papers, and techniques.

Just for fun, I went back to my SCS gallery to see when I actually started posting cards.  It was in August 2012, and Julee commented on my first two cards.  My first Mojo card was created from sketch #250.  It's pretty rough, but Andrea Ewen was kind enough to leave a word of encouragement.

It's become a habit to visit the Mojo Monday blog each Monday after school  even it it was just to look at the designers' cards.  I'll miss that as much as the sketches, I think.  Lots of my favorite sketches are saved and are sure to be used again.

Thanks, Julee, for inspiration, encouragement and lots of fun!

Blessings,
Christine
