Mojo Monday: Forever Kind of Love

Happy Memorial Weekend, everyone!  It's truly a busy time for me right now, but I decided to make a little time to craft this morning before returning to responsibilities, schedules, and deadlines.  This week's Mojo Monday sketch is truly a keeper, and I intended to be truer to the design, but sometimes one choice of color or shape influences another.  The gorgeous detailed heart competed with my favorite part of the sketch---the three strips of washi tape--- so I used a solid background image to let the pretty heart shine.  The ingredients for this card are:  Verve's Love Everlasting set with awesome matching dies, Wedding Bliss papers from Echo Park, and some metallic gold poster board cut with a  Little Inker die.

Mojo Monday: Dreams

As a teacher, I have a special affinity for colored chalk, and as crafter, I like to get out my old pan pastel chalks for this technique.  The background was created by randomly applying patches of color with the applicator included with the chalks, stamping, and dry embossing.  It also looks great with heat embossing.  My go-to ink is Memento Tuxedo Black, but it's time for a new pad, so I tried Tuxedo Black in the Memento Luxe version and found that it didn't stamp as evenly as the regular version.  The softening effect of the vellum helped to distract from the unevenness.  This sheet of vellum happens to have glittery speckles.  I also downsized the panels  in the sketch to let more of the butterflies show.

The stamps are Verve's Sparkly Dreams with matching dies, and the diagonal piece is from Little Inker Designs.

You Color My World----Thanks Sunny Studio!

I count it a blessing to have won a gift from Sunny Studio in the recent Birthday Blog Hop for Jo's Scrap Shack.  My darling new stamps and dies arrived in the mail today, and I just had to do some late night crafting.....hence, the not-so-great photo.  My card features the versatile stamp set called Color Me Happy and coordinating die.  I also ordered the sun rays die and can't wait to try it out.  Thank you so much, Mendi, for helping us celebrate Jo's fifth year of blogging!

Fun Friday Challenge 188: Bugaboo Stamps with a Twist-- Patterned Paper

Happy Friday!  It's time for another Fun Friday Challenge at Jo's Scrap Shack where the theme is always Anything Goes.  The design team is showcasing images by  Bugaboo Stamps.

This week's challenge includes an optional twist.  The designers were challenged by Jo to use only patterned papers in our creations.  I found the challenge to be lots of fun.

My first card includes digital papers called "For You"  from Cinnamon Scraps.  The second card features a collection  from Tout Aimee.  I selected, sized, and printed the papers before choosing  Prismacolor pencils to color the cute turtle from Bugaboo.

Hope you will try mixing patterns.  It's fun!

Sunday Stamps Sketch: Welcome Baby

Jo's Scrap Shack Birthday Blog Hop Found Here

It's time to welcome a baby--- a sweet girl will soon arrive, and her daddy is one of my former students, all grown up, married, and graduated from medical school.  What a happy occasion!

It was so much fun to use the Sunday Stamps Sketch along with Verve's Hip Hop Bunnies, Reverse Confetti Scallops 'n Circles, and RC Tall Tags Trio to complete this card.  The soft girly papers are from a collection called Love and Flowers--perfect to welcome a little princess.

Freshly Made Sketches: Thank You So Much!

Jo's Scrap Shack Birthday Blog Hop Found Here

Sharing a thank you card for a teacher appreciation gift.  I am working to develop CAS card-making skills and find that Freshly Made Sketches are a big help!

Dies used on this project include the Tilth Floral by Memory Box, a banner from MFT Blueprints 12, and Little Inker Stitched Rectangles.  The tiny sentiment is from a Heidi Swapp set I was thrilled to find at Tuesday Morning.

Mojo Monday: Fabulous

Jo's Birthday Blog Hop found here.

I envisioned using these pretty red papers with glittery silver mats, but the silver was too much.  Switched to black and wondered if red polka dots and black scallops said, "Minnie Mouse".

At any rate, I love the sentiment from the Verve collection called Love's Flower.  The scalloped squares are MFT dies.

It's the Little Things....Coffee

What a fun sketch!  I went a little crazy with scraps from a favorite Heidi Swapp paper pad  and substituted aqua zebra stripes for the more conventional ones suggested in the sketch.  Then all those other little scraps seemed to pair up with some Verve dies to add some more details to the clean sketch.

The sentiment in the top corner is TLC digital stamp offered as a free download here.  The coffee cup is from Verve's Coffee set and the Verve dies used are Heart Quartet, Partly Cloudy, and the Coffee word die.

Mojo Monday/Inspired by all the Little Things---Many Blessings

The sweet blue and yellow color scheme from the Inspired By photo was still on my mind when searching for papers to layer with this Monday's Mojo Sketch.  The papers are part of the "Park Bench" collection by Fancy Pants, and I love using them.  So glad I took the extra time to mat the layers in the sketch, because it really dressed up the card.  Here are the other "ingredients".

The sentiment comes from Verve's Autumn Blessings, and the dies include MFT Stitched Scalloped Squares, MFT Stitched Flowers, and Reverse Confetti's Tall Tags Trio.  None of these dies stay in the storage bin for long.

Inspired by All the Little Things: Happy Birthday

This card came together quickly, and I am really happy to be sharing with a birthday girl very soon!  I chose the colors and the floral embellishment based on the inspiration photo----well, actually, they were part of a thank-you gift enclosed with a Verve Stamps order, so all I did was realize they were the perfect response to the pretty photo.  The sentiment is from Verve's Poppy Birthday, and the floral die set from MFT can be seen here.

Mojo Monday: Thanks for Being Awesome

Our school has two fabulous nurses, so I made similar cards for them using this week's Mojo Monday sketch and a Plain Jane from Verve.  Sadly, it's no longer available, but maybe it will one day become part of a set.

So thankful for our dedicated school nurses and for a few minutes to unwind and paper craft.

Gift Cards Holders at 4 Crafty Chicks

It's been so much fun to serve as a guest designer this month at 4 Crafty Chicks.  This is my final project for the month, but I enjoyed creating it and can't wait to see what types of gift card holders will be linked this week!

The base of my gift card holder is 8.5 inches by 3 inches.  It's scored and folded down at 2 inches to create the top flap and folded up at 2.5 inches to create the bottom pocket.  The papers are part of a mat stack I picked up in Michael's dollar bin a long time ago, but the Teacher's Count stamp set with matching dies is still available at Verve.  (Insert big grin---I adore this set!)

Thanks for Leanne, Nance, Tamie, and Lori for running a great challenge and for the opportunity to share as a guest designer.  I enjoy playing along there and hope to see your creations, too.

Blessings,
Christine

MFT Sketch Challenge--Adorable Elephants/Thanks WAW

A few weeks ago, I was blessed to be drawn for a Simon Says Stamp gift card at Word Art Wednesday.  It's been a blessing to play along for several years.  In fact, it was one of the first challenges I participated in as a beginning cardmaker.  Visits to WAW continue to be a blessing as I read over the devotions, use the word art, and visit different carmakers' blogs.  I appreciate the encouragement from God's Word and from the kind comments shared over the years.

The MFT set Adorable Elephants has been on my wish list at SSS and I received it yesterday.  Thanks SSS and WAW!

Procaffeinate (My 100th blog post!)

There's a fun sketch challenge going on at the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog where you can also read about CLC designer Kerry's vacation finds of a great coffee shop and a cute stamp set.

My take on the sketch uses a Tuesday Morning purchase of a stack called Crimson (now I wish I had two stacks) and the adorable stamps from A Creative Journey with Melissa.  I though the suggestion of a "to do list" would be cute with the witty sentiment.

Thanks for looking.  Wishing you a great Sunday afternoon and great coffee,

Butterflies at 4 Crafty Chicks

Take time to flutter by the 4 Crafty Chicks blog where this week's challenge is butterflies hosted by the very talented Tamie.  I am again excited and humbled by the opportunity to share there as a guest designer and hope that you will also have time to craft and post your creations at 4 Crafty Chicks.

I had lots of elements prepared to use on this card, but decided that the beautiful Verve sentiment and the chalked Memory Box butterfly made a powerful statement when left clean and simple.  A few scored lines ground the designs.

Praying your day is touched by God's goodness and grace,
Christine

Mother's Day Wishes

We started our Easter celebration early this morning and sent our son back to college before the
traffic and weather got too bad, so I was ready for a little stamping time.  It's fun to "shop" for inspiration photos and sketches, and I found a great pair.

To achieve the edge detail in the Freshly Made Sketch, I used the Little Inker Stitched Diagonal Die.  A boldly striped paper  from  Bo Bunny  and some pink blossoms stamped and cut with Verve's Joyful Blooms hint at the graphic photo with its soft pinkish reflections.  The glittery leaves were cut from a Verve die and give a nod to the shimmering rain in the photo.

Happy stamping,
Christine

Be Still and Know I am God

The layers in the Mojo sketch are subtle with patterns in similar tones, giving a quiet look to this card in celebration of a young lady's confirmation.

The stamp is from Verve's Scripture Medley 1 and is framed with a scalloped square die from My Favorite Things.  The MFT Stitched Flower was in the left-over bin on my desk.
